A video that I found about assistive technology is a computer disc called TeachingPix, which is designed to help out children with autism. This disc includes flash-cards with real life pictures and 65 different categories per disc. The video does not talk all about TeachingPix but it does show examples of the flash-cards that are used. I think this is a great tool to help children with autism or any student who is having a difficult time, because with TeachingPix they are real life pictures that are being used and it allows the student to visualize what each flash-card says. Some of the flash-cards are numbers with the same number of objects, so by showing the student it will give them the opportunity to understand and see the number of objects for each number it shows. Its proven that students learn better when they can actually see what is being taught to them, and TeachingPix gives them that opportunity. Overall I feel this is a great assistive technology tool because it aids people with poor communication abilities and other various disabilities.
